How Adventures of Rubi Began

If you told me back in 2017 that a few doodles of my dog would turn into a business spanning multiple countries, I probably would’ve laughed. At the time, I was just having fun. I loved drawing little comics of my Shih Tzu, Rubi, and posting them on Instagram. She was (and still is!) such a big personality that it felt natural to share her adventures in sketch form. That’s how Adventures of Rubi was born.
At first, it was purely for me. A creative outlet. But slowly, people started reaching out. “Could you draw my dog?” “Would you make a portrait of my cat?” One by one, those requests turned into orders, and before I knew it, I was drawing pets for people all over the world.

Things really took off when I began to expand the product line. Suddenly it wasn’t just drawings – we had pet tags, leashes, collars, memory portraits, even family illustrations with pets included. The little side project that started with a few comics had grown into a full business. And the wildest part? It grew so much that I was able to bring more people on board to help.

Today, Adventures of Rubi is active in Hungary, the US, and since 2022, even Slovakia. I still can’t quite believe it. This brand means the world to me because it started with Rubi herself, who’s now 11 years old. She has no idea, of course, but she’s the inspiration behind everything.
The best part of it all?
Hands down: the feedback. Every single time someone shares a message or photo about how much joy one of our products brought them, it gives me goosebumps. Knowing that something we created becomes part of another family’s story is both humbling and magical.

What’s next?
We have lots of plans – the biggest one being expanding our products while always keeping quality as the top priority. And just as important: continuing to support animal shelters. Whether it’s through donations, products, or financial help, giving back is something I never want to lose sight of.
Adventures of Rubi started as a love letter to my dog, and it’s grown into a way to celebrate pets everywhere. And honestly, I feel like we’re still only at the beginning of the journey.
